Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark announced that she won't be able to play in the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game or participate in the 3-point contest due to her latest injury, but will be present during this weekend's festivities at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Clark, 23, led all players in fan votes, earning the captain role opposite Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier and confirmed she will work alongside New York Liberty head coach Sandy Brondello and her staff to lead the team.
"I'm so excited for Indy to host WNBA All-Star this weekend," Clark said in a statement shared by the Fever. "I want to thank the Indianapolis Host Committee and all of the people that have put endless work in over the past year to put this event together. I know this will be the best All-Star yet.
"I am incredibly sad and disappointed to say I can't participate in the 3-Point Contest or the All-Star Game. I have to rest my body. I will still be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for all the action and I'm looking forward to helping Sandy coach our team to a win.
"Can't wait to see you all out there!"
Clark, who was selected as an All-Star during her rookie season last year, sat out of the Fever's loss to the Liberty Wednesday (July 16) night due to a groin injury she suffered on Tuesday (July 15) night, her third injury in four months.
Clark, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft and 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, is averaging 16.2 points, 8.8 assists and five rebounds per game in 13 total appearances during the 2025 WNBA season.
