“Wake Me Up When September Ends,” became a top-10 hit and a huge meme that's probably getting used right now, so the band decided to give their fans a listen to the birth of the song by releasing the demo of the track.
Green Day’s been on an anniversary vibe by celebrating 2 of their biggest albums, as they hit the road on their stadium tour, playing both "Dookie" and "American Idiot" in full. They released a 30th-anniversary Dookie reissue, and an expanded edition of American Idiot is out next month, and now they’ve released three bonus tracks, including the demo of “Wake Me Up When September Ends.”
