The Final Time Elvis Left The Building

It was a month where fans, loved ones, and professional associates alive thought that maybe things were turning around for the King Of Rock & Roll. In the month of June in 1977, Elvis Presley would release what would be his final single, “Way Down”, after having two tapings for a television special that showed him in terrible shape and unable to perform all of his songs.

Elvis would perform at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, and come to the stage looking better than he had in a year. He was lighter and looked healthier, but by the end of the performance, Elvis was struggling, soaked in his own sweat. What everyone in the arena at the time did not know was that would be his last performance ever. Suffering from many ailments, Elvis would eventually pass away after suffering a heart attack at his home Graceland, he was 42.

News of his passing spread like wildfire, and the world of music was never the same. The world’s first rockstar was now gone, but his legacy would endure longer and brighter than his own glorious career. June 26th, 1977 was the last day the world got to see one of the greatest of all time perform with all his heart to an arena full of fans that would only begin to leave when the infamous phrase was finally said.

“Ladies & Gentleman, Elvis has left the building.
