The signs are all there as Election Day draws near. Evidence of concerns that election officials and law enforcement have over making sure there is no trouble on Election Day.
With election tensions high and lots of reports about what might happen after Election Day, state and local leaders are sending out messages.
California Secretary of State Shirley Weber, who is a San Diegan, is in charge of running elections in the state. She has issued a statement saying that “Californians should review the Voter Bill of Rights before heading to the polls to ensure a smooth voting experience.”
You see the Voter Bill of Rights contains crucial voting rights information that voters may not be aware of such as the right to cast a secret ballot without anyone bothering them or telling them how to vote.
And then there is the message from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office that says they’re working to make sure Election Day is a safe experience for all voters. And that they and their law enforcement partners are monitoring intelligence and information related to any possible threats on Election Day. Their message says that while they do not have any credible threats to our communities, they are prepared to handle any incident.
While it all may sound a little ominous, it is evidence of just how sacred free and fair elections in America are and should always be. Something to think about over the next few days.
