What Americans Think About the Weather

Weather is back in the news with this current storm expected to bring much needed rain and mountain snow to help reduce the drought.

For San Diego, it’s a pretty good size storm system, though nothing like the kind of winter storms in other parts of the country.

But around an inch of rain at the official measuring station at San Diego International Airport is a lot with us having had only a little over one inch of rain since the official rainy season started back on October 1st.

And we don’t want any really extreme storms anyway, with those big atmospheric rivers like the one in January of 2024 that dumped so much rain it led to all that flooding.

But weather overall, here in California and across the country has become more extreme according to the weather experts.

So how do people feel about the weather?

A search on line is pretty interesting:

A majority of Americans think extreme weather poses a risk to their community.

66% of Americans think global warming is affecting weather in the United States

A majority of Americans think global warming is happening and a majority of Americans are worried about global warming.

However, climate change is a lower priority for Americans than other national issues.

And for us in San Diego, that’s known for having America’s finest weather, we don’t really want the weather to change much at all.
