WATCH: What’s Ahead for San Diego’s South County

The South County or South Bay as many call it, is in the news a lot these days. If you live in the North County or the East County, you may not know much about it and may not have even been there much.

But with the opening of the massive new $1.3 billion dollar Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center, the South County is getting a lot of attention.

After decades of the Chula Vista waterfront being more of an industrial wasteland, a lot of has changed for the better for a city that is the second largest in the county.

While the popular and unique Living Coast Discovery Center has always been a popular destination point, there wasn’t a lot else along the waterfront for many years.

But while the new resort is making news, and good news, another thing that is making news, in the South Bay, that has been bad news for years, is the problem of the border sewage pollution of land, sea and air.

Yet the good news is that some progress is being made with a new Tijuana sewage treatment plant in operation and much increased federal funding to help solve it.

So with it maybe being the fastest growing area in all of San Diego County. Chula Vista and the rest of the South County are likely to become even bigger and better in the years and decades ahead.
