Getting to the hospital in an ambulance is about to get even more expensive.
The San Diego City Council approved the 18 percent hike that will be spread out over three years Tuesday. The increases will bring city rates roughly up to the county average.
Talk also continues about the 19 month old partnership the city has with private ambulance companies like Falk. It's been a financial success, but there's still a push to make workers city employees, rather than have them work for a private company.
The biggest confusion seems to be who will actually pay for the increased cost of the ambulance rides. Some say it will be the patient, while Council members tell us, it will be insurance companies.
