Proposed $25 Minimum Wage For Hospitality Workers In San Diego Passes

The San Diego Chamber of Commerce is opposing the plan to raise the minimum wage to 25-dollars an hour for hospitality workers in the city.

The plan has passed committee and will go to the full council later this year. If passed, it would raise the minimum wage for hospitality workers, including those at the Zoo, Petco Park, event centers and large hotels from $17.25 an hour on January first.

Former San Diego Councilmember Chris Cate, now the President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce says they will continue to oppose the plan, and could launch a referendum campaign if it passes the council.
