A storm with heavy rain and some gusty winds slammed into San Diego County Saturday morning with flood advisories and flood watches.
The rain led to several dozen crashes and at least two Sig Alerts according to the CHP who advised people to stay off the freeways and other roadways due to some local street flooding.
Offshore water spouts are possible through 3 p.m., and thunderstorms could break out during the same period according to the National Weather Service.
Winds have gusted to more than 20 miles per hour at San Diego International Airport and flight delays arwe possible due to the weather alomng with possible delays and cancellations due to the lingering impact of the FAA cuts in service during tne govwernment shutdown..
Saturday’s racing card for Del Mar Race Track has been cancelled. Sea World San Diego remains open, but the precipitation could lead to the closure of some rides. The storm is not expected to lead to a delay in the football showdown between San Diego State University and Boise State, which is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Snapdragon Stadium in Mission Valley.
The rain will likely cause localized street flooding in and around the Fashion Valley Mall in Mission Valley.
Forecasters say a second storm could arrive on Monday followed by a third a couple of days later.
